Carriers declare Force Majeure after Baltimore bridge incident
2024-03-27

Dear Valued Customer,

The Port of Baltimore is closed indefinitely due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge. In the aftermath of the collapse and the Port closure, steamship lines have declared force majeure. In turn, OEC Group must follow suit and invoke terms 13 and 14 of our Bill of Lading Terms and Conditions.

At this time the Port of Baltimore is closed to all vessel traffic until further notice. Containers currently at the port will remain there until the port reopens. Containers in transit to Baltimore or scheduled to travel to/from Baltimore will need to be re-routed. Shippers are responsible for re-routing or re-booking their shipments and any additional costs thereof.

OEC is prepared to leverage our global contacts to assist shippers in either rebooking or rescheduling their shipment while minimizing any effect this incident has caused on the final delivery of their goods.

The aftermath of the situation in Baltimore is evolving rapidly, and OEC will keep you informed as news breaks. For any questions regarding the rerouting or rebooking of your shipments, please reach out to your OEC logistics consultant.

Sincerely yours,

OEC Group
