Carriers have been working to realign their sailing schedules to help solve the port congestion issues that have been plaguing the industry. A plan has been created that will, in all likelihood, provide importers with significant relief. This plan involves carriers eliminating bunching resulting from port congestion, which is overwhelmingly evident on West Coast services where delays are more acute.
However, the plan may temporarily result in further tightening of space availability as carriers continue to blank sailings and skip ports of call to speed up and realign their vessel rotations. We believe the increased disruption will last through at least June. Therefore, we highly encourage you to place your bookings as far in advance as possible in order to ensure your cargo is prioritized.
