LA/LB Terminals Adjusted Traffic Mitigation Fee
2021-11-29

Dear Valued Customer,

In an effort to reduce port congestion, the West Coast MTO Agreement has announced its plan to update the Traffic Mitigation Fee (TMF) at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The adjusted TMF will be $78.23 per TEU or $156.46 for all other size containers and will be effective from December 1 through January 31 between the peak hours of 7:00 AM and 5:59 PM.

This is keeping with the trend California port authorities have been exhibiting by adjusting their charges to incentivize shippers to clear their cargo out of the terminals. We anticipate other port authorities across the country to begin assessing similar punitive charges to mitigate congestion.

Therefore, in order to minimize the impact of these fees, we are advising all clients to prioritize and make every effort to evacuate their containers from ports as soon as possible.

Please feel free to contact your OEC Sales or Customer Service Representative with any questions.

Sincerely yours,
