CBP Increasing Audit Frequency for Section 301 and AD/CV
2021-04-05

Dear Valued Customer,

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been auditing imports more frequently than in the past to avoid misrepresentation of imports subject to Section 301, antidumping, and countervailing duties. For many importers who do not utilize professional brokerage services, this has resulted in additional costs from fines for misrepresented products; creating an additional financial burden during a time when prices are high.

Therefore, to avoid these costly fines and ensure that your products are being properly classified and imports are not being transshipped, we are recommending that our clients work with a brokerage expert. These experts can help you ease your responsibility to properly classify products, understand the true origins of your supply chains, and file exemptions correctly.

Please contact your Customs Brokerage representative if you have any questions regarding this update or wish to learn more about how OEC can help prevent misrepresentation of imports.

Sincerely yours,
