Maersk Eindhoven Container Loss
2021-02-18

Dear Valued Customer,

While traveling from Xiamen to Los Angeles, the Maersk Eindhoven encountered severe weather and possibly experienced engine failure, sending a significant number of containers overboard and damaging containers remaining on board. The full extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed.

Our customer service representatives will reach out to all clients who have been affected by this incident. If you are affected it is possible that Maersk will not be liable for the damages based on the “Perils of the Sea” exclusion in the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act. This may leave uninsured customers with little to no recourse.

Unfortunately, these incidents are becoming too common. Therefore, until these incidents subside, we highly recommend that all our clients consider purchasing cargo insurance. This will affirm your investment’s protection. As an additional benefit, insurers will expedite any legal processes, eliminating prolonged uncertainty.

Please reach out to your OEC Logistics Consultant or the OEC Claims department to understand how this option can help give you peace of mind.

Sincerely yours,

OEC Group
