US CBP Offers Duty Deferment on Certain Entries
2020-04-21

Dear Valued Customer,

We hope you are safe and well.

US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) announced they will be delaying certain duties, taxes, and fees without interest for 90 days on eligible cargo that entered the US in March or April 2020. This postponement is an effort to ease pressures on importers impacted by shutdowns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to US CBP, clients who are eligible for this benefit should be able to demonstrate "significant financial hardship" due to shutdowns and decreased economic activity resulting from the coronavirus. OEC Group is available to work with clients to determine their eligibility and develop strategies tailored to their specific needs.

Please feel free to contact your OEC Group Customs Brokerage representative to determine if your business is eligible for this benefit and for assistance delaying your duty, tax, and fee payments.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

OEC Group
