Federal Harbor Maintenance Tax Credit Available to Massachusetts Importers

Importers of ocean cargo into Massachusetts ports may be eligible for a Federal Harbor Maintenance Tax (HMT) credit.

HMT is collected by US Customs & Border Protection for maritime imports at a rate of 0.125% of commercial cargo value. This credit can be applied against current and future taxes paid in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
