Update: Section 301 List 2 Effective August 23

Update: Section 301 List 2 Effective August 23   Customers of OEC Brokerage received personalized import data analysis last month to assess their exposure to Section 301 duty. If you use an alternative broker, we suggest you request your import history from them and OEC Brokerage can assist with your analysis.   Dear Valued Customer,    Earlier this week, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced Section 301 List 2 has been finalized after undergoing a public review by the Section 301 Committee. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will begin collecting duty on List 2 affected imports from China starting August 23, 2018.   The finalized List 2 is expected to impose an additional 25 percent tariff on $16 billion in US imports from China and contains 279 of the original 284 proposed tariff lines. As with the announcement of List 1, a formal notice of the List 2 tariff will be published in the Federal Register outlining the process by which affected importers may request exclusion from additional duty.   To help ascertain if this policy will impact your shipments, you may find the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) subheadings pertaining to your imports on your CBP Entry Summary Form 7501.    For the finalized List 2 affected products and their harmonized tariff subheading numbers, please see the link below:  https://ustr.gov/sites/default/files/enforcement/301Investigations/Final%20Second%20Tranche.pdf   Please reference the below timeline to keep track of the upcoming Section 301 events and deadlines:    *List 3 and its tariff rate are proposals and are, therefore, subject to change.   OEC Group is committed to keeping our customers informed on current market conditions and will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.    Should you have any questions regarding this update, please contact your OEC Group sales representative.     Sincerely yours,    OEC Group    The information contained herein is provided as a public service with the understanding that OEC Group makes no warranties, either expressed or implied, concerning the accuracy, completeness, reliability, and suitability of the information.
