Update: Section 301 Tariffs on Imports From China

Dear Valued Customer,

Following the July 6 implementation of Section 301 List 1 tariff and prior to finalization of List 2, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released List 3 on July 10. List 3 seeks to impose a 10% tariff on $200 billion in goods from China and could potentially impact 6,031 products.

Of the extensive product range indicated in List 3, electronics, furniture, automotive parts, chemicals, textiles and food products are among the categories affected most by dollar amount as well as number of listed tariff codes. The proposed List 3 tariff is expected to go into effect after a comprehensive review process by the Section 301 Committee.

At this time, both lists 2 and 3 remain under review with formal hearings scheduled for July 24 and the end of August respectively. The dates at which US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will begin collecting duty for the List 2 at 25% and List 3 at 10% have not been determined yet.

To help ascertain if this policy will impact your shipments, you may find the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) subheadings pertaining to your imports on your CBP Entry Summary Form 7501. It is important to note these lists are tentative and in no way finalized.

Based on your import history with OEC Group, we are following up individually with each of our brokerage service customers who may be affected by these proposed tariffs by the end of this week. It is imperative that you also check with your licensed US customs broker to determine if your imports fall under any of the Section 301 lists.
