Dear Valued Customer,
Since the discovery of a broken support cable on May 14, the James B. Edwards Bridge leading into the Port of Charleston Wando Welch Terminal has been under construction. The Port of Charleston has been extending gate hours in an effort to mitigate construction related delays.
Although there is currently no sign of serious backup at the Port of Charleston, the westbound bridge closure has caused commuters and truck drivers to experience increased congestion and delays moving to and from the terminal. The Department of Transportation reports bridge construction is expected to conclude on June 11.
